Twisted & brittle, BUMMER. But it looks like you got a good handle on it.

whenever the mood hit you ,you have to take advantage of it....i'm a very early riser most times i'm up at 4 am....i try to get an hour of bench time in at this hour....that is after the coffee and advil kick in(breakfast of champions).... nice and quiet at this time of day and no interruptions.. can't say i do it every morning...sometimes i just sit there and look at the build i'm working on figuring out ideas or what steps to do next...the build is coming out very nicely btw.

Looks like the engine is going to fit nicely in the chassis , unfortunately the headers had to go ! I found a rear end from an MPC 1/16 Charger and narrowed it to fit . I also grabbed the driveshaft from the Charger . I haven't used my old Vac-U-Form in years and while thinking about making a bellhousing decided it might be the way to go . So I whittled a form out of foam and gave it a try . When I cut it out I'll leave a flange and add some bolt heads , it should work just fine . And I had to remount the rear pivot for the body as it was originally glue off center and crooked . Luckily I was able to cut it free without breaking anything !

that is one sharp looking engine and tranny...super job Thanks ! The engine is an aftermarket 1/18th diecast and is really way too detailed for a Toon , but I only build 1/25th scale cars and it's just going to collect dust if it doesn't get used ! I'm thinking about changing the scoop to give it a different look but haven't decided yet .

The scoop you mentioned, I agree with you. I would exchange for a scratch built scoop. And since you have the vacuum form. How about creating a design assimilating with the body shape as a cover over the header. Just an idea.
Or maybe you can use that scoop from this kit but add some depth onto the engine.
I really like the stuff you gather to put together and I know it's gonna be a good one!
Looking forward to the completion .

I spent a couple of hours cutting and replacing bars in the chassis and working on the mounts for the rear axle , finally getting something that I was happy with . . . at least it's better than what I started with . Here's the rear axle and engine in place . You can see I had to do some grinding on the chassis to get the rear tires tucked inside the body . I've got some different front wheels/tires coming my way so I'm not doing the front suspension until they get here . And here's an idea of the look I'm going for . There was some grinding inside the body to clear those slicks too ! I plan on the front being that low too , with a different spoiler and the wheels & tires tucked up inside .
