Since the contest just turned up for 2016, I spent time in the stash and have decided to start off with this model 57 chevy... and its not gonna be a gasser, for sure... I never liked the gasser style. I had the chance finding other parts to blend with.. Having this picture in my mind... I will look up and find an inspiration picture sometimes soon. For now I am still in the heads doing chrsitmas shopping, working on my painting for clients. so I thought I would throw in a subject of my contest entry for now Be seeing you all soon

Can't wait to see it! I am also not a big fan of the way it looks as a Gasser compared to the other Deals Wheels sets. I will be anxious to see how you make it all better.
I am also going to do a Deals Wheels so hears to a fun contest!

I'm not sure which one to grab off the shelf... I've got a couple of the Super Zingers from days gone by.. I may just bust one open and doll it up a bit...

Yeah, cant decide what to pick, since we have collected so many and all sits on the shelf.. then we cant decide which to start with.. sometimes its a headache as for this one I am thinking... I haven't created a theme on this 57 chevy... I will change it in the future.

Hello all, Finally back to you guys. I still am tied with a project I had not started earlier.. but started last week so I hope to complete this in a couple of days and get to start building the model car. I have searched over net trying to find a 1/20 scale wheels and tires in stock , not custom ... I am hoping to find some kind of smooth texture on the wheels as in hubcaps... I wondered if you all guys might have a spare? I know this type of size is quite hard to find but doesnt hurt to ask you all I will follow you all up once I get the wheels and tires then...

OH yeah! Glad its all done now... Hello everyone... Now that I started doing the work... I have collected all pieces to kit bash up so here are the pics.... I am sure you wonder about the white thing from a 1/12 scale 57 chevy, yes these are an extra I bought with the wheels back in the past... and I had no use of these but decided to keep it to pay safe. Sure enough I am now using this... along with the resin parts from Ron Cash back in old days... I bought it years ago and left in packs for almost 20 years and finally got to use them LOL... and these wheels... I got from Moebius kits and ordered one which will suit.. after spending weeks and weeks trying to find wheels to blend with the car and finally, found one. my first step, of course, doing some trimming and cutting to fit... and now, ahh you thought... the fender skirts is trimmed and fit in the back of the chevy.. the reason I want to use this is because the design on the bottom of the skirt is traditional on this car so I gotta have that on car. I used the paper as a template to create shapes for the fender skirts as a guide making it fit. It is tough to make it right. I looked in the stash and found a couple of pieces. Spare tire tray is from one of the vintage kits which I know would look great on the rear bumper for the spare tire to sit. Of course I have to do some trimming to make it work. And, again from same stash box of vintage pieces, I get the side pipe for the sides.. Few pieces such as spot light will be added, perhaps some goodies inside the back window.. Will add more sometimes during the process. I have decided the name for this model car to be a 57 Chevy Phantom. More to come...

I been up all night, since I am supposed to work tonight, due ice, so i stay home.. and decided to do much work as I can. Theres still have some editing to do... I put all the pictures in one pic to save space .... description below the pics... I create the fender skirts for the fender on rear end, came out great. Of course, its a bit different comparing to real one because its a cartoon ... I took the time figuring out, because I want to make it a lower rise version, so I decided to remove the chassis components which cause them raising up. I then realize that the flat part of chassis is really weak and will not hold much of these pieces together so I added the sturdy flat styrene. It will be hidden eventually after completion.. and then experimented them together. It looks so awesome and knowing this, the result will be amazing. I performed some editions on the spare tire tray to attach the rear bumper, looks great but now are in stripping phase since the paint will cause glue to fall off so I have to remove them in order to glue them together and when its all done, I will chrome paint them. I will then focus on bumper in front and work on the hood to cover up the hole spot. Been spending about 4 hours on them already. Whew... gonna rest as I will be taking kids to school late during the morning. So more to come soon.

Hello again, guys... I been working on this car for entire weekend, grabbing all I can finishing up.. and am getting close to finishing up all the modifications on the car. Sanding is also taking place partially ... 1 - I been creating an emblems for the spare tire, as you may notice on the bottom of that picture, you see the white arrow... that particular piece will be put on the spare tire. So tedious work! 2 - I may have mentioned this same technique I did in my other model, nomad with surfs. I added the rocket on the center of the two rocket scoops. I will then paint chrome to enhance the look on that after the paint is done on the car. Had to refine the hood scoop hole to make it work right, even up the lines there. 3 - I test fit the bumper on front, had to trim some side to give more room for the tire to sit in.. and adjust the fender skirts on back and is already glued. Looks great. 4 - As you may have notice... the bumper requires quite a lot of modifications, shortening the center to fit the whole bumper on the car. yet with the ends, you may notice a putty on side.. If you see the white bumper ends, you can see that it wont suite or hold right so I had to use some putty and put on and apply and create the shape to blend with. When dried, I sanded them smooth to make it fit right in on the edges of the ends. It works well. I also then put the wall on grill since I wont be able to create a grill for that car ... I will have to think what styles would suit this car since its a lowrider. More coming in a couple of days enjoy your week.
