First off...Wardster that paint work is so clean and awesome!! I really look up to you folks for your super clean builds. I haven't had much build time but, body is primed and I'm hackin' away at sprue. The gray sprue is the kit chrome sprue stripped 'cause it had longer straight sections than the other sprue. The only other time that I did an "parts from box build" was an AMT Double Dragster Kit. 'Cause that kit has so many parts. Here I moved the narrowed kit roll bar to be front bumper and made a bigger roll bar from sprue. Cut some instruction paper, rolled it around axle, super glued it to make tubing. Glued the exhaust pipe left overs together to make a "U". Cut the antenna up to use parts of it for something else.

Glued and began to paint the little lady... just the first layers, anyway. Next is the baby buggy.
Great work !! I can't wait to see more progress shots !!! Welcome aboard !!

Okay. I think I'm getting the hang of posting images on that new-to-me Post Image site ... so, here's the next photos of the work-in-progress on Huey's Hut Rod. On the wood grain, and maybe (later) on everything else (when I get to that?) I'm working via brush painting, rather than using an airbrush. I'm using, mostly, paints by these guys: www.reapermini.com/The wood shading is spot on buddy !! It's looking great 👍 !!

Looked briefly at the site link you provided, but I'm curious about the medium... what is it? Jon says it is airbrush enamel. I like the detail.

Here's a close-up of the lower front door on the outhouse, without reducing the photo's resolution: Keep in mind that my intent is to give two thumbs up to that manufacturer's paints, and what the paints can do. I'm not trying to toot my own horn, here, as a painter. Not by a long shot! I realize, from having seen other's work with paints of that type, that what I'm doing here is barely the beginning. The stuff the guys who really know what they're doing, with paints of that type, totally blow away anything I've done on this kit! So yeah, I'm still a learner, myself, with all that stuff ... and that's okay. (Even if I feel, after seeing other's stuff, that I'm not worthy of cleaning some of those people's paint brushes for them!)

Ok.. I'm going with a Super Zinger kit called FIRED UP!! Ok confession time .. I started out building this little jewel per the "box stock" rules .. during the process I decided to make an attempt to cleverly hide some detailing until AFTER the contest .. this work included res&blue flashing LED's in place of the hard plastic kit supplied lenses and a custom made "sound box" with a yelping siren.. well I was doing really well at hiding everything internally but his a snag which will be noticable when statically displayed .. DRATS!! So now I'm scrambling to find a replacement project to keep within the guidelines .. my bad fellas !! But there's still time to jump in with a fresh project ..When completed I WILL post the finished (and highly modified) "Fired Up!" project in the finished category , it will not be a part of this contest due to my adult ADD..... 🤘

Hah ! Don't blame you though , using only what's in the box is tough to do when you have all those neat ideas rattling around in your head . I almost didn't even enter this time for the exact same reason ! Like you said , there's still time to find and build another entry ! Go for it !!

Hey Wardster, That info is great. Please understand that I'm gonna be selfish and I'm not complainin' about you pullin' the thread off course. In the winter when I come lookin' for this info between my memory and short cartoon buildin' attention span I will have a hard time findin' it. If I do remember where it was and start lookin' through the thread to find it my cartoon short attention span will kick in and I'm not gonna make it past the airplane and saucer. I'll be on ebay lookin for them. Could you please put some of that info on the tips section? As always thanks to you and everybody on here for their involvement with the Car-Toon site this place is awesome.
Laughingdoe, Thanks for askin' about the paint. I was wonderin' too. Cheers,Smokey
