This will be one of my two entries , yes I'm going crazy and committing to build two models ! I figure if I keep them simple and don't go overboard I should be able to finish them both . This is the Polar Lights "Willy Fast" and I've been wanting to build it for a long time . The body is molded in a very nice metallic blue , maybe the nicest I've seen , so it's gonna be a shame to paint it !

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought those actual were pre-painted at the factory? Mine seem to have been, anyway. I picked up most of the series, once upon a time; and they all seemed to me (??) to have been very nicely painted, already, in the box itself. They even wrapped the bodies in tissue paper, if I recall??
Either way ... I can't wait to see what you do to that cute old kit! They've got lots of personality!

Well no wonder it looks so nice . . . it is painted ! I never looked at it close enough to tell . Thanks Wardster !

So I've been looking at this for a coupe for weeks now and really like the way this Willys body looks , so I've scrapped any changes I had planned and will be adding just a couple of minor tweaks . This is how it sits right out of the box . . . not bad but those front tires have got to go ! I found some in my parts box that are slightly larger and I dropped them down about a quarter inch . The wheels are also from the parts box , I'm saving the chrome ones in the kit for a future project . And I've got these Slixx decals that look like they'll fit this body so I think this is the direction I'll be heading !

That whole series has always had a lot of potential. Glad to see some of 'em getting some love!

Looking good! And it looks better with the dropped front axle.

After spending soooo much time on the Super Spurt I've decided to keep this one simple , so instead building a front suspension I'm using the front from the GoMad kit . I just need to add some material to the chassis plate so it can be mounted . I stripped the chrome from the springs revealing black plastic . The front section was removed and mounting holes were drilled for the rear of the springs . Quick and easy ! Not too bad . . . I might have to move the axle forward just a bit .

I've got this really cool looking blower & scoop from a Boss Bulldozer but it's way too big for the Willys . Guess I'll just have to make my own !

I drilled holes in blocks made from 1/8" plastic , then bolted them together and shaped them with a Dremel and a file . Then I glued pieces of .030" to the blocks and glued everything together . Once that dried I did some trimming and sanding , then glued some end pieces to the blower . It's pretty basic but after paint it should be okay , besides most of it will be hidden inside the hood opening . The scoop is next !
