Coming along great. The x-tra attention to detail in the mods works really well! Thanks Jerry !

I almost forgot to post a pic of the painted body ! I like it but it's not exactly the color I wanted , it's more silver than blue . I just ordered a different color but it won't be here till next week . Looks like this one won't be finished by the entry deadline .

It looks pretty damned close to me Bob .. at least from the photo comparison .. but I realize it may be completely different looking in person ..

A couple of years ago I built the Roswell Rod and painted it a color that just didn't look right . I ended up tearing it apart and redoing it completely , a real pain ! Every time I looked at it I knew it was wrong and I hated it . Probably the same thing would happen with this one , so it's repaint it now or later !

I've repainted it again (3rd time) . I didn't even take pics of the second color it was actually pretty close but seemed to have too much metallic in it . . . don't know why I'm being so picky about this one . Anyway , now it's a Sky Blue which isn't correct either but I kind of like it for a Toon !

The color is difficult to match comparing to the picture.... but as you tried the third time. Maybe if you add some lettering and add more of silver pieces on grill headlights and stuff... it will balance out. The sun in the picture does the trick making it more doubtful to determine the shade of color, so I would stick to what you just did the third one. and with pieces all together, it would work well

It is very difficult to find the perfect match. Plus the original picture is on a sunny day, that make it difficult to see the original color. Either blue you picked looks great. I like the color that is now, it seems to fit better also the body shape, make everything pop up.

It's been more than a year since I shelved this one but I never forgot about it . The truth is I quit because I was unhappy with the color , it would have bugged the heck out of me if I had finished it ! Well no promises that I'll finish it but I may have found the color I was looking for . It's very hard to photograph but I think I'm going with it !

What is the color you finally used? I found a color in the Tamiya Polycarbonate line called Sky Bkue Anodized Aluminum that's really nice but it's a bit darker , so after that I sprayed a couple of mist coats of Pearl Light Blue on top . Note that the polycarbonate paint is designed for lexan and is very very hot , it needs a good barrier underneath it .

I thought I'd join in on some of the fun but when I started looking thru the box it was missing several parts that I know I put in there last year ! Among the missing is the scoop , which actually is okay because I never liked the one I had . To make a new scoop I cut a piece of signfoam and started sanding it to shape . After a few coats of hi-build primer I opened the front with a small pencil grinder . This was actually much easier than I expected but it is very fragile , in fact I broke it while doing some final sanding . The glue is drying right now and a lesson learned .
