I figure that the Willys build is going to be fairly quick so I've been kicking around ideas for another entry , and I finally decided on a DW GoMad . I built a box stock GoMad when they were first reissued but never had a good plan for another one . I've seen several of them modified really nice and decided to try something different . Here's the idea . And a little computer generated body work shows the direction I'm headed with it !

ooh, like it lots! That roof rake really fits, and I like the matching the body panels to the wheels!

I've got to start somewhere and I need to locate the wheels and tires before I can do anything else , so . . . . . . I'm just going to tape the interior and the chassis plate into the body . Then eyeball where the axles will go . I found some tubing that fits over the GoMad axles to use as housings , and I used a cutoff wheel on a Dremel to cut the grooves in the chassis plate . Here's the tubing in place . Hmmm , an axle thru the oil pan ! Quick and easy . Maybe a little minor adjustment but now I can start the body work !

KEWL!!! Thanks Jeff ! I cut some plastic sheet to the shape of the tires and glued them to the inside of the body . Then I used some putty to fill in the gaps . This is the first time I've ever used Squadron Putty , it reminds me of the old Testors putty I used as a kid . I guess it will work , I'm just not used to the drying time . I always use a 2 part putty and it dries in minutes ! I'm going for a more stock appearing body so I made a small filler piece for the hood . Time to watch the putty dry .

Added a little more putty to the rear and reshaped the front . I also extended the bottom of the rocker panels .

After work this morning I did a bit of sanding . It needs a bit more putty and some touch-up then I can start on the roof !
